Automated External Defibrilators (AED) is a life-saving defibrillation device. It's designed to allow non-medical personnel to save lives. If a sudden cardiac arrest victim receives defibrillation within the first minute, the survival rate is 90%. On 24th May 2017, UWC Director Dato' Ng Chai Eng collaborate with former chairman of Sekolah SRJK (C) Chung Hwa (Pusat) to contribute the AED equipment due to the recent dealth of a primary school student at SJK (C) Being Teik (Pusat).
Most of the primary schools do not realize the importance of AED.Dato' Ng Chai Eng
He is encouraging the primary schools to consider to install an AED instrument. But there is no sufficient funds for the primary school to install an AED instrument, they need enthusiastic support to install an AED. Therefore, Dato Ng Chai Eng decided to sponsor the AED instrument to encourage the use of AED in the primary schools. Every school should have one or more AEDs, depending on the size of the premises. The closer the AED is located to the potential victim, the shorter the time to shock and the higher the chances of survival.
