NEW PRODUCT INTRODUCTION (NPI) DESIGN ENGINEER

Job Description

NPI Engineer's responsibilities as follows but not limited to :

  • Report to immediate superior & Department Head.
  • Assist NPI Section Head to achieve defined objectives.
  • Ensure operation of NPI Section comply with departmental & company policies, objectives and SOPs.t
  • Planning, co-ordination and allocation of resources to project and order assigned.
  • Lead and manage project team to ensure timely implementation of First Article project.
  • Review customer drawings, bill of materials and specification.
  • Conduct DFM, process capability study for product design and requirement.
  • Develop process flow, bill of material and process drawing for new product.
  • Review product drawing and development/process drawing.
  • Develop packaging standard and instruction for the product.
  • Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to project.
  • Lead to resolve any technical issues arise during product sample preparation stage.
  • Develop, analyze, and record permanent solution for any problem encountered during project implementation
  • Prepare, coordinate & conduct post project review.
  • Design and develop new jig and fixture for new product and process improvement.
  • Authorize work drawing and engineering change.
  • Ensure availability and reliability of project/order file such as technical document, specification, BOM etc.

Design Engineer's responsibilities as follows but not limited to :

  • Design & develop new product for existing or new customer within schedule.
  • Meeting with clients to establish the design brief, including the concept, performance and production criteria
  • Lead and taking part in specialist or multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Sketching initial design ideas, Identifying the suitability and availability of materials
  • Producing design specifications, including parts lists and costings.
  • Prepare prototype or working models.
  • Testing the design concept by computerised modelling or physical hands-on testing of models
  • Problem-solving and finding solutions to sometimes complex electro-mechanical problems.
  • Researching materials, processes or market requirements.
  • Arranging meetings and liaising with engineers and other departments, including marketing, to discuss and negotiate appropriate production processes, costs and commercial issues.
  • Making presentations to clients, either when bidding for a contract or to present design proposals
  • Prepare, coordinate & conduct post project review.

Qualification

  • Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Engineering (Mechanical), Engineering (Mechatronic/Electromechanical), Engineering (Industrial) or equivalent.
  • Required skill(s): analytical and problem solving skills, experience in fmea and doe in product/process improvement, experience in cadcam softwares solidwork/solidegde/mastercam/hypermill etc, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, Sheet metal & CNC machining experiences are preferred.
  • At least 3 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  • Preferably Senior Executives specializing in Engineering - Mechanical/Automotive or equivalent.
